If you’re looking for a great reliable source for Dumpster Rental advertising, then look no further than Google Ads. It’s proven to be a great source of quality dumpster rental leads for the client I’ll be going over today.

Running Dumpster Rental Ads can be super powerful when done right, but unfortunately a lot of people just take a shotgun approach to the process.

When you approach things without the right structure or a plan in place to optimize your campaign, you’re most likely not going to have success.

So, today what we’ll do is quickly go over a Dumpster Rental Google Ads campaign, go over the numbers, and I’ll cover the rough structure we’re running for this client.

Dumpster Rental Advertising Results

dumpster rental google ads case study results

As of writing this blog post in June 2025, we’ve had over 700 leads come through this dumpster rental advertising campaign so far.

On average, we’re seeing the cost per lead over that time for the entire account come in right around the $25 mark.

Keep in mind that every market is different, so the cost per click and cost per lead can vary when it comes to running Google Ads for dumpster rental companies.

Now, these leads aren’t just a name and an email or something like that. You can see the actual conversion actions themselves below:

dumpster rental google ads leads numbers

So far we’ve had 496 inbound phone calls from people looking for dumpster rental in their local market.

Then add on top of that another 213 form fill submissions that have come through as well.

If the client wanted to, we could probably bring in even more leads every month, but as of right now we’re clearing 150+ new leads every month for this client.

So, how have we been able to generate these dumpster rental leads with Google Ads?

Where Things Started

Before we launched this dumpster rental marketing campaign, the client was actually running a couple of Google’s Smart Campaigns.

Without going into too much detail about these campaigns, Google’s Smart Campaigns are…

… not great when it comes to advertising your dumpster rental business.

They were spending somewhere around an average of $3,000/month on these campaigns, and sometimes more.

While they were getting some legit leads from these dumpster rental ads, the number of calls that I saw on their call tracking software coming in for completely irrelevant things was way too high.

People calling for Waste Management, looking for junk removal, looking for a dump nearby, trying to call local restaurants, and in some cases looking for wildly irrelevant things like Amazon customer service.

One big lesson to take from this if you are considering dumpster rental Google Ads is that you don’t want to be running Smart Campaigns.

Google makes it super easy to set them up, but you have very little control over what types of searches your ads are showing up for.

When you put all of the control in Google’s hands, you end up having campaigns that spend your money and not really deliver anything in return.

So, in order to get them on the path to having campaigns that are actually delivering them results, we had to make some changes.

First thing we did was pause the Smart Campaigns, and switch over to a regular search campaign.

Run Search Campaigns For Dumpster Rental Google Ads

If you’re going to be running Dumpster Rental advertising on Google Ads for your dumpster rental business, you want to make sure you’re running a regular search campaign.

This is the campaign type where you just have your ad showing up on the Google search results page.

Ideally we want to be showing up in the top three in the search results. Here’s a quick example screenshot of where your dumpster rental Google Ads should be showing up.

The main reason you want to be running a search campaign is because that’s where the most targeted, high intent search traffic is going to be.

You want to make sure that your dumpster rental Google Ads are showing up when people are searching for “dumpster rental near me” or “dumpster rental [city name]”.

Those are the people you want to show up for, and creating a search campaign is going to allow you to put your dumpster rental business in front of them.

Supplement Things With Remarketing Campaigns

Another great thing that you can do to get more dumpster rental leads from Google Ads is to run a remarketing campaign alongside your main dumpster ad campaign.

If you’re unfamiliar with remarketing campaigns, they’re the same types of ads that follow you around after you look at a product online.

Just in this case, instead of it being a product, it’s your business.

I like to think of it as digital follow up.

Not every person who visits your website or landing pages is going to convert into a lead.

So, one of the best ways to convert those people who didn’t convert in the first place is to just stay in front of them.

Remarketing allows us to do that.

The best part about remarketing is that those leads might have never reached out to the client in the first place.

Those additional leads you generate from the remarketing campaign are kind of like “found” leads that you might have not had with a search campaign alone.

For this particular client, their remarketing campaign is accounting for 40% of their total lead generation.

Here’s the stats from that campaign alone:

In this case, those 287 leads might have ended up reaching out to other businesses. Because we have remarketing set up, those people ended up reaching back out to the client.

Another great thing about running remarketing Google Ads campaigns for dumpster rental is that the cost per click is lower compared to running search campaigns.

Google Ads search campaigns nowadays have definitely gone up in price.

When you compare the cost per click from a remarketing campaign to a search campaign, the cost per click can be ⅓ the cost of what you would get directly from Google Search.

So, for this client, running that remarketing campaign alongside our search campaign has helped bring in more leads and reduce the overall cost per lead on their dumpster rental Google Ads campaign.

Send All Of Your Traffic To Landing Pages

A lot of the time when I see people running Dumpster rental Ads, they’re sending all of their traffic directly to the homepage of their website.

In 90% of cases, you don’t want to be doing this.

The main reason is that a lot of success or failure with Google Ads comes down to your campaign’s conversion rate.

conversion rate on a dumpster rental google ads campaign

Conversion rate is the number of clicks that turn into a lead.

When we’re paying for every one of those clicks from Google, we want to convert as many clicks into leads as possible.

So, we need to do everything we can to increase our conversion rate.

The reason why landing pages are so important is because (as long as they’re designed well), they’ll help increase the conversion rate on a campaign.

So, why can’t you just send your traffic to your website?

This is why I said 90% of the time previously…

Sometimes people have very well designed websites that are simple, don’t have a ton of distraction, and are actually built in a way that prioritizes converting people into leads.

In those cases, I think you could probably get a decent conversion rate sending traffic to the website.

A lot of the time though, that just isn’t the case.

Websites are usually designed to be much more informational, and are built to rank in Google Search or on Google Maps.

That requires a lot of content and information, internal linking, pages, etc.

When we do that, we increase the number of distractions for the person interacting with the site.

It’s great for someone discovering your website organically. But, when we increase the number of distractions, the chances someone takes the action you want them to take (becoming a lead) drop significantly.

Here’s some things that will negatively impact your page’s conversion rate:

  • Having navigation options or links where people can click off the page
  • Not having a clear header section with a good call to action
  • Content on the page not being relevant to what someone searched
  • Really slow loading times
  • Not being optimized well for mobile, and much more

At the end of the day, it all just comes back to the numbers.

On average, most websites convert somewhere around 10% of Google Ads traffic into leads.

Sometimes more, sometimes less. It really depends upon how well it’s put together, and how focused it is on converting leads.

The target I shoot for with my landing pages (and a well optimized campaign) is a 20% conversion rate.

If we’re paying something like $10 per click and spending $1,000/month…

Then we’ll be getting 100 clicks a month.

If you send that traffic to a website that converts 10% of those clicks into leads, you’re going to get 10 leads at $100/lead.

Alternatively, if you send that traffic to a landing page and convert 20% of that traffic into leads, you get 20 leads at $50/lead.

So, in this hypothetical example, we’re cutting our cost per lead in half and doubling the number of leads we generate in a month.

In this case for this dumpster rental Google Ads client, running that traffic to landing pages has been one of the big parts we’ve been able to get good conversion rates.

So, if you’re going to run a Google Ads campaign for your dumpster rental company, be sure to get landing pages set up before you start running a campaign.
